Q
How do I make a good cup of coffee?
A:
A good cup of coffee begins with quality coffee, clean equipment and good HOT water. How strong you like your coffee will determine the water to
coffee ratio used when brewing. All these have an affect on how your coffee tastes.
Q
What are the differences in roasts?
A:
Lighter
roasts tend to be sharper and more acidic where dark roasts tend be
fuller in flavor. Believe it or not - dark roasts tend to have
less caffeine than their lighter counterparts. Although good for
anytime of day, dark roasts are often used for after dinner drinks (espresso).
Q
How much ground coffee do I need for X cups of coffee?
A:
This really depends on what seems right to you. The perfect
ratio of coffee per cup can vary depending on brand, freshness and your individual tastes. The general rule of thumb is two tablespoons
for each 6 oz. cup. Please remember that everyone's tastes will vary so you may have to experiment until you find your perfect mix.
Q
How important is water quality when brewing?
A:
Since coffee is over 97% water, the better the water - the
better the coffee brewed from that water. If you use water from your tap and it tastes good, it is probably
good for brewing coffee. Some people use filtered or bottled water when brewing, but one thing to keep in
mind tough is to NOT use distilled water as it lacks the minerals that makes water
pleasing to drink.
